Mike Tanner

After retiring as a Senior Manager with BC Hydro’s Power Smart program, Mike provided consulting services on energy conservation and greenhouse gas reduction, to the Building Owners Management Association of BC.

During Mike’s time with Power Smart, he managed and provided direction to a team of Managers and professional staff engaged in various key marketing functions and, in delivering complex and multi-technology products and services through various programs and initiatives.

Career Highlights

Mike was also an early member of the BC Water and Waste Association’s Water Sustainability Committee and, a Past-President of the BC Electrical Association. With this experience, Mike was an early adopter of the benefits of both energy and water conservation and, the possibilities of “Watergy”, which is the relationship between pumped and treated water and the resulting energy consumption.

In 1997, he was a member of the Ministry of Environment Working Group that developed A Water Conservation Strategy for British Columbia, released in 1998.

As Chair of the waterbucket.ca website partnership, Mike recognized a need for a single point of access to news, information and tools for sustainable water management in BC and the website was launched in 2005. By providing universal access to information, and online tools, Mike believes we will continue to see ever-improving standards of practice in all aspects of land development and water resource management.

Recognition

Mike has the proven ability to build effective business relationships based on customer service experience, involvement with industry associations and, government committee memberships. He has also demonstrated ability to deliver high quality presentations at senior level conferences and to all levels of government.
