John Finnie, BSc., MSc., P.Eng.
A civil and environmental engineer, John Finnie has over 40 years of water, wastewater and solid waste regulatory and utility management experience with the BC Ministry of Environment and the Regional District of Nanaimo.
Career Highlights
He was a member of the Project Steering Committee for the document Stormwater Planning:Â A Guidebook for British Columbia, released in 2002.
John was a founding member of The Partnership on Vancouver Island (formerly CAVI) and served as its chair from 2006 to 2011.
In addition to his participation on the Partnership’s Leadership Team and the Partnership on Vancouver Island, John is a member of the Regional District of Nanaimo Solid Waste Advisory Committee and serves as a representative/advisor on the Sustainable Funding for Watershed Governance Task Force, led by POLIS.
Recognition
A Lifetime Member of the Partnership, John received the first BCWWA Leadership in Water Sustainability Award for his activities with the Partnership on Vancouver Island and for his work in championing the Regional District of Nanaimo Drinking Water & Watershed Protection initiative, the first regional watershed protection function with taxation authority in BC.
