Environmental Farm Planning protects water resources

Posted February 2006

Environmental farm planning is a voluntary process that producers (in all types and sizes of farm operations) can use to identify both environmental strengths and any potential risks on their farms. As appropriate, it includes a prioritized action plan to reduce the risks.

The Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) Program is being delivered in this province by the B.C. Agriculture Council on behalf of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and in cooperation with Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Environment Canada, and the B.C. ministries of Environment and Agriculture and Lands.

The Environmental Farm Planning Presentation—prepared by Pete Spencer (EFP coordinator, BC Cattlemen’s Association) and Don Magnusson (EFP coordinator, BC Fruit Growers Association)—addresses EFP goals, eligibility requirements and practices, and incentive programs.
