Strategic Directions in British Columbia: Services, Assets, Finances

“Learn about leading-edge Council stewardship of municipal assets! Our upcoming Strategic Directions workshop will inform and educate about international best practices that support asset management planning. It will also provide practical guidance for long-term financial planning and then communicating the message to those who pay, namely: our taxpayers,” states Wally Wells, Executive Director of Asset Management BC.

Wally-Wells_120p“The keynote speakers are Marie Lemay and Glen Brown. Marie is the Associate Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Canada; Glen is the Executive Director with the Province of BC who is responsible for the Local Government Infrastructure and Finance Division. Marie and Glen will elaborate on the directions and actions senior governments are taking to align funding programs with local government asset management plans.”

“Through a case study from the Town of Golden and panel discussions with CAOs/ Mayors who have engaged their municipalities, we will bring all the disciplines together on developing an integrated strategy. We close out the day with a primer on communicating the message to different audiences.”
