As communities are established, as populations increase, our shared responsibility should not only be directed towards monitoring the provincial inter-ministerial and public processes in place on what has and is occurring in our local watersheds, and to our subsurface flows, but also to become visionaries for the future well being of those community residents and to the integrity of our watersheds.
Educating Young People About Water (EYPAW)
EYPAW guides and water curricula database provide assistance for developing a community-based, youth water education program. These resources target youth and link educators to key community members to build partnerships to meet common water education goals. The EYPAW resources are full of ideas, checklists, references, partner lists, and community action education materials.
Give Water a Hand
Give Water A Hand program activities are presented in two publications — the youth Action Guide and the Leader Guidebook (for youth leaders and teachers). These easy-to-follow, illustrated guides show how to organize and carry out effective action-oriented projects. Young Water Action Team (YWAT)
The Young Water Action Team is a global network of young water professionals and students aged 18-30 with members in more than 40 countries. Our mission is to increasing the awareness, participation and commitment of young people to water-related issues. In partnership with international water organisations, YWAT is creating a network of young people who are dedicated to tacking the world's challenges with water, sanitation and hygiene.
Living Lakes
Living Lakes is an international network and partnership whose mission is to enhance the protection, restoration and rehabilitation of lakes, wetlands, other freshwater bodies of the world and their catchment areas. The Living Lakes partnership promotes voluntary international collaboration among organizations that carry out projects benefiting lakes, wildlife, and people.
Intenational Association for Great Lakes Research (IAGLR)
IAGLR is a scientific organization made up of researchers studying the Laurentian Great Lakes and other large lakes of the world, as well as those with an interest in such research. Specifically, we promote all aspects of large lakes research and communicate research findings through publications and meetings.
Union of Concerned Scientists: Great Lake Communities and Ecosystems at Risk
UCS is an independent nonprofit alliance of more than 100,000 concerned citizens and scientists. We augment rigorous scientific analysis with innovative thinking and committed citizen advocacy to build a cleaner, healthier environment and a safer world.
Ground Water Protection Council (GWPC)
GWPC is a nonprofit organization that works toward the protection of the nation’s ground water supplies. The purpose of the GWPC is to promote and ensure the use of best management practices and fair but effective laws regarding comprehensive ground water protection.
Great Lakes United (GLU)
Great Lakes United is an international coalition dedicated to preserving and restoring the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River ecosystem. Great Lakes United develops and promotes effective policy initiatives, carries out education programs, and promotes citizen action and grassroots leadership.
