Creating our Future Workshop at Gaining Ground Summit set the stage for Showcasing Innovation Series and Green Infrastructure Leadership Forum

The Creating Our Future Workshop, held in June 2007 as a shoulder event to the Gaining Ground Summit Conference in Victoria, was high energy from start to finish and achieved its objective of celebrating Vancouver Island success stories. This set the stage for building on success to move green value from concept to practice.

Green Vocabulary

According to Kim Stephens, workshop moderator and Program Coordinator for the Water Sustainability Action Plan for British Columbia, “The workshop provided context for green value, designing with nature, green infrastructure and water sustainability….from the shoreline to the watershed, and from the development site to the municipality.”

Workshop Outcomes

Hosted by the Real Estate Foundation of British Columbia under the umbrella of the CAVI-Convening for Action on Vancouver Island partnership, the workshop brought together a diverse mix of people from local government, provincial agencies, First Nations, the private sector, and the real estate industry.

“The success of the Creating Our Future Workshop created the momentum and support from local governments  that made it possible for CAVI to organize both the 2007 Showcasing Green Infrastructure Innovation Series and the Green Infrastructure Leadership Forum,” reports Kim Stephens.
