Integrated Watershed Management

The District of Central Saanich is the recipient of the 2010 Capital Regional District (CRD) EcoStar Community Environmental Award for Integrated Watershed Management.

Central saanich  - mayor jack mar (120p)“As the Mayor and a farmer of Central Saanich, I was very proud to accept the CRD EcoStar Award on behalf of the District, and of Council’s commitment to the ISMP and the implementation of its recommendations”, said Mayor Jack Mar. “Our entire Region will benefit from the investments we make to ensure stormwater runoff is treated as a valuable resource.”

Serving as a model for other British Columbian municipalities, the District of Central Saanich is the first municipality on Vancouver Island to develop a progressive, cost-effective ISMP following the guidelines and recommendations of Stormwater Planning: A Guidebook for British Columbia
