Inter-Governmental Partnership posts Weekly Implementation Status Reports

The Water Balance Model powered by QUALHYMO is currently in public Beta Trial mode. The Inter-Governmental Partnership (IGP) anticipates that it will be September 2008 when the QA/QC process wil be completed and the Beta Trial designation removed.

During the interim period, the IGP is posting weekly status reports so that users are kept informed.

Similarly, the IGP hopes that users will provide feedback on their experiences so that the IGP can address issues of concern.

Ad Hoc Users Focus Group

The Inter-Governmental Partnership convened an ad hoc Users Focus Group for the specific purpose of obtaining feedback on user experience.

“An exploratory session on July 8 with a small group served as a test of how a new user responds to the interface without the prior benefit of hands-on training,” reports Ted van der Gulik, Chair of the Inter-Governmental Partnership.

Topic Areas to Improve the User Experience

Hosted by the City of Surrey, the focus group session drew on a mix of user perspectives and was conducted in a computer lab setting to address these topic areas:

• What is modelled
• What data do you need
• What is a Project versus Scenario
• What are the units
• How to step through a project
• How to interpret the results

“The session generated a long-list of suggestions to improve the user experience,” summarizes Ted van der Gulik. “This long-list has been converted into a work plan for fast-track implementation.”
