Hong Kong bridges can go green, just like the Garden Bridge proposed in London or the landmark High Line in New York, says Thomas Heatherwick, the British designer behind the planned garden in the sky over the River Thames.
“The green streets policy statement is a really exciting thing to happen for the city of Ann Arbor. We’re one of the first municipalities in the state of Michigan to take a stand to ensure that not only our private developers are following stormwater rules and improving water quality, but we’re looking within our own walls,” stated Jennifer Lawson.
“Across Canada, municipal governments are implementing innovative projects that contribute to sustainable community development. Truly sustainable projects take a holistic, integrated approach, where economic, social and environmental factors are inextricably linked,” stated Claude Dauphin.
“The best way to ensure it keeps working in using the street sweeper after fairly dry periods when the road dust is nice a dry in the voids and can be easily vacuumed. Send the sweeper in every few weeks or so during dry conditions to keep it working,” advised Richard Boase.
“There are social and economic benefits – including cleaner air, habitat for wildlife, increased property values and neighbourhood pride, to name a few,” said Sarah Blyth.
“In five hours this area was transformed into something beautiful,” said Ryan Wood. “The green infrastructures use curb cores to convey storm water from the street to bio-retention basins. In addition, they beautify the neighborhood.”

“The City of Vancouver is proud to have contributed to the ‘working with nature’ philosophy and applying the principles of the Water Balance Model to the Olympic Village project and the East Fraserlands redevelopment project,” stated David Desrochers.
“Elmer Avenue looks very different now than the blocks around it. A long list of agencies, from the federal Bureau of Reclamation to the city of L.A.'s sanitation department, had a hand in demonstrating new ways to manage stormwater here,” reported Molly Peterson.
