Guide to the Guidebook

In June 2008, the Inter-Governmental Partnership (IGP) and Convening for Action on Vancouver Island (CAVI) released Rainwater Management: An Introduction to the Guidebook for British Columbia. To download a copy, click here.

This provides a broad-brush picture of Stormwater Planning: A Guidebook for British Columbia, released in 2002. The emphasis is on core concepts. The desired outcome is that readers will be interested in learning more by delving into the Guidebook.

The guide is written for both expert and non-expert audiences. It explains how the Guidebook is structured to meet the information needs of different audiences; and it provides a transition into Beyond the Guidebook: The New Business As Usual.

This guidance document was developed to support the curriculum for the Vancouver Island Learning Lunch Seminar Series, a precedent-setting approach to delivering peer-based education to local government practitioners in the places where they work.

Greening the Built Environment

The New Business As Usual

“We are using the slogan The New Business As Usual to convey the message that, for change to really occur, practices that until now have been viewed as the exception must become the norm moving forward. We have to build regulatory 2008 learning lunch pilot - dale wall (160p)models and develop models of practice and expertise to support The New Business As Usual”, stated Dale Wall, Deputy Minister  (Ministry of Community Development) when he announced the launch of both the new Water Balance Model and the Vancouver Island Learning Lunch Seminar Series at the Gaining Ground Summit in May 2008.
