The 2014 Annual General Meeting of the Partnership for Water Sustainability in British Columbia (PWSBC) will be held at the Delta Ocean Pointe Resort Hotel – 45 Songhees Road, Victoria, British Columbia – on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 from 12:00pm until 1:30pm. PWSBC welcomes all members and members of the general public to attend.
With directors, volunteers and local government representatives attending from other parts of the province, this is a great opportunity to meet PWSBC members, get an update on PWSBC activities, and become more involved in helping to create a sustainable water future here in British Columbia.
Celebration of the Water Sustainability Action Plan for BC
“In conjunction with the Annual General Meeting of the Partnership for Water Sustainability in BC, and to create a high-value “sharing and learning” opportunity for our local government members and others, we have again partnered with the Irrigation Industry Association. This year we are co-hosting Convening for Action on Vancouver Island: How Managing Water Now….Will Shape the Future. The workshop provides an incentive to attend our AGM and learn what the Partnership does,” states Tim Pringle, Partnership Past-President.
“During the AGM, we will also be concluding a year-long celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Water Sustainability Action Plan for BC. The Partnership is helping the Province of British Columbia to implement the Living Water Smart and Green Communities initiatives. This is done through a shared responsibility in delivering the Water Sustainability Action Plan.”
“We hope that the attractiveness of the program content for the workshop on How Managing Water Now…Will Shape the Future will similarly provide an incentive for interested parties to attend the AGM and learn more about the Action Plan as well as the Partnership’s facilitating role.”
Settlement, Economy and Ecology in Balance
An advocate of the “top down bottom up” principle of engagement, Tim Pringle has been a consistent champion for local involvement and recognizes the value of stewardship groups and community groups in working towards a common vision based upon universal values.
“The Partnership continues to influence practitioners with thought provoking truths: use and conservation of land are equal values; healthy human settlement systems and ecological systems are inter-dependent; and, settlement in balance with ecology can lead to enduring prosperity,” states Tim Pringle.
“The Partnership makes available tools and support services that enable practitioners to focus on water sustainability as an essential form maker of our communities. We all live in a watershed.”
“The Partnership is collaborating with the Vancouver Island Economic Alliance and Royal Roads University to advance our shared vision for the Vancouver Island 2065 initiative, namely – ‘Moving Towards Settlement, Economy and Ecology in Balance’. The opportunity to learn more about this vision provides an incentive to attend our AGM.”
