CELEBRATING A DECADE OF SUCCESS: Year-long celebration of BC’s Water Sustainability Action Plan kicked off at Partnership’s 2013 AGM

Partnership for Water Sustainability embraces “Shared Responsibility”

“Released in February 2004, the Water Sustainability Action Plan for British Columbia has provided a partnership umbrella for on-the-ground initiatives in the local government setting for the past decade,” stated Tim Pringle when he opened 2013-AGM_Tim-Pringle_1000pthe 2013 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Partnership for Water Sustainability. Tim Pringle is a founding Director and first President of the Partnership. Held in December 2013, the AGM was the forum for kicking off a year-long celebration oif the 10th anniversary of Action Plan development and implementation.

“The Partnership embraces shared responsibility and is committed to advancing water sustainability planning and implementation in British Columbia,” Tim Pringle emphasized.

“We are in for the long haul.  Watersheds are fundamental to our settlements. By working to balance watershed health with settlement prosperity, communities can sustain their well-being.  The Partnership for Water Sustainability established its Convening for Action in British Columbia initiative to support communities to understand this equation and move to implementation.”

At the 2013 AGM, six members of the Partnership’s Leadership Team described what has been accomplished in British Columbia under the umbrella of the Water Sustainability Action Plan. These individuals and their areas of focus in the tag-team presentation are listed as follows:

  1. Kim Stephens – genesis and where next
  2. Peter Law – the regional team approach
  3. Mike Tanner – waterbucket.ca website
  4. Richard Boase – Water Balance Model
  5. Eric Bonham – Vancouver Island 2065
  6. Ted van der Gulik – Agricultural Water Demand Model

All six have played major roles over the past decade in first developing and then implementing the Action Plan.
