Living Water Smart launched blog to connect those interested in BC’s water future (December 2009)
Encouraging Water Stewardship
“Living Water Smart is the provincial government’s plan to keep our water healthy and secure for the future. A key commitment in the plan is to modernize our water laws to improve the protection of ecological values, provide for more community involvement, and provide incentives to be water efficient,” stated John Slater, MLA and Parliamentary Secretary for Water Supply and Allocation.
“Over the coming weeks and months, we will be using a new Living Water Smart Blog to encourage water stewardship in BC, share the ideas and stories of those who are interested in BC’s water future, and celebrate our water smart successes.”
“The Blog will also be used to support dialogue on modernizing the Water Act and will complement a public discussion paper and a series of regional meetings to be announced early in 2010.”

About John Slater
John Slater was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Water Supply and Allocation to the Minister of Environment on June 10, 2009. He was elected as MLA for Boundary-Similkameen on May 12, 2009. He also serves on the Environment and Land Use Committee.
John Slater is a well-known community leader in the South Okanagan having served as Chair of the Okanagan Basin Water Board and Mayor of the Town of Osoyoos.
